I used to think that was the way to go, and maybe it was back in the days where there were 6 Z32 forums competing for an audience to have 'numbers'. I realized later that's like having a dyno queen website once tt.NET had become dominant. It's more appealing to new visitors to allow read only w/o membership or anon lurking. Eventually they want to post and that's when you need to join the member base to establish an identity.
